Wine Cellar

London Precast Systems Ltd.

Why choose a wine cellar?

The storing and aging of wine is so important, yet economical wine storage is a problem for most people these days. Whether you’re a vintage wine collector, a “party-animal” or you just like to have a few dozen bottles around the house (by the case is still the most economical way of buying wine), then a Pre-Cast Wine Cellar will suite you. Not only does it add the benefit of a whole new dimension to you home, it also allows you to store hundreds of bottles in ideal conditions. Here at London Precast Systems we understand that wine is a living, breathing thing, therefore, care and attention must be given to insure the proper storage conditions are maintained. Our Pre-Cast Wine Cellars allow you to retain the ideal conditions maintenance free.

Temperature

It is wildly agreed that temperature is the most important factor. Wine ageing involves complex chemical reactions. These chemical reactions will occur faster if the temperature is too high, reactions that wouldn’t otherwise occur in cooler temperatures, causing your wine to age rapidly. It is therefore vital to the ageing process to store your wine at a constant recommended temperature.

A fluctuation in temperature is also undesirable as these conditions can increase the amount of oxygen in your wine and cause your wine to spoil. Gradual seasonal temperature changes are deemed less harmful.

With the help of the earth’s natural insulation and our cellars Passive Ventilation System our Pre-Cast Wine Cellars will allow you to maintain a steady temperature at the recommended 8C to 12C all year round, in turn allowing your wine to age gracefully.

Humidity

If bottles are kept in too dry a condition, corks will dry up and lose their elasticity allowing harmful quantities of oxygen into your wine causing them to spoil. In Keeping with storing bottles horizontally, our Pre-Cast Wine Cellars allows you to keep a constant humidity level, approx. 70% to ensure corks never dry out.

Dark & Vibration Free

Wine must be stored free from direct sunlight, noise and vibration. Our solid re-enforced concrete wine cellars provide the perfect sunlight, sound and vibration proof structure for you to store your wine for many years

Functions

Cool air is drawn in through a built in service at ground floor level and directed through the cavity.

Due to the earth’s natural insulation warm air rises and directed externally at ground floor level through a built in service. Cool air is then drawn in and this starts the ventilation process, allowing the cellar to maintain a constant temperature and a fresh supply of air.

The pre-cast concrete structure not only allows the cellar to be durable but also allows it to be waterproof. The structure is also reinforced with steel allowing it to be resistant to constant forces from the earth.

The Wine Bays circle the entire cellar allowing you to maximize the space for wine storage. Depending on what size and height you choose the cellar will consist on average of 5 bays. These bays are designed to allow you to store wine horizontally to make sure your wine stays in contact with the cork.

An additional service is built-in for electrical features, like lights or any other power needs you may have within the cellar.

Only 1 Day Fitting

We supply and fit all our Pre-Cast Wine Cellars with experienced fitting crews to enable fast delivery, fast fitting and in turn help keep disturbance and delays onsite to a minimum.

Installation of the spiral cellar comes in two pre-cast segments. The first is the cellar piece, which is simply lifted and dropped into a pre-dug hole, dimensions specified by London Precast Systems. The second piece is the cover of the cellar, which also supports the trap-door, is lifted and placed on top of the pre-grouted cellar and supported with steel rebar to keep firmly in place.
